Green Pin® Tetherable Safety Shackle – Every Component Secured. Every Time.
On any worksite where rigging hardware is used at height, a dropped shackle pin isn't just an inconvenience — it's a potentially fatal event. The Green Pin® Tetherable Safety Shackle was engineered from the ground up to eliminate that risk entirely. Co-developed with the DROPS organization — the global authority on dropped object prevention — this shackle ensures that every single component stays connected to the structure, the rigger, or the rigging system, no matter what.
Fully Tetherable. No Exceptions.
Every individual component — the bow, the pin, the nut, and the cotter pin — features its own dedicated attachment point, designed and load-rated to accept tethering lanyards, retention cords, and tool tethering systems from day one. There are no improvised solutions, no drilled holes, and no field modifications required. When the shackle is assembled or disassembled at height, nothing goes anywhere it shouldn't.
Built With the Strength the Work Demands
The Green Pin® Tetherable Shackle is manufactured from Grade 6 high-tensile steel, quenched and tempered, delivering the same metallurgical quality found across the broader Green Pin® range. Available in sizes from 1/2" to 1-1/8" with working load limits spanning 2 to 9.5 metric tons, and rated to a 6:1 safety factor throughout. The hot-dip galvanized finish provides durable, metallurgically bonded corrosion protection for extended service life in outdoor, marine, and offshore environments.
Rated for Extreme Conditions
The Green Pin® Tetherable Shackle performs reliably from -40°C to +200°C (-40°F to +392°F) — one of the broadest temperature ranges available in its class.
Multi-Standard Compliance for Global Projects
Meets EN 13889, ASME B30.26, and US Federal Specification RR-C-271, Type IVA, Class 3, Grade A — covering European, North American, and federal procurement requirements in a single certified product. The DROPS co-development pedigree provides additional assurance that the tethering design has been independently validated by the industry's leading dropped object prevention organization.
Key Applications:
- Work at height rigging on towers, structures, and offshore platforms
- Wind energy installation and maintenance operations
- Bridge, infrastructure, and construction crane rigging
- Offshore oil & gas lifting where DROPS compliance is mandatory
- Any site with a dropped object prevention program or policy
