Know Your Hook — Important Application Note

The A-1328 is a grab hook, not a cradle hook. It does not feature a supporting saddle, which means it should not be used as a chain shortening hook on a chain sling assembly. For shortening applications, the Crosby A-1338 Cradle Clevis Grab Hook is the correct specification. The A-1328 is purpose-built for permanent chain attachment points where its slim profile and closed-eye geometry offer a genuine advantage over wider, bulkier alternatives.

Forged from quenched and tempered alloy steel, individually proof tested at 2.5× WLL with full certification, fatigue rated to 20,000 cycles at 1.5× WLL, and engineered to withstand an ultimate load of 4× WLL, the A-1328 carries a Product Identification Code (PIC) alongside Crosby, U.S.A., and size markings for complete material traceability throughout its service life.
