The SHUR-LOC® latch mechanism is the S-1316AH's defining safety feature. Once loaded, the latch locks positively and remains locked until intentionally released — the recessed secondary trigger reduces accidental release from incidental contact or gloved hands brushing the latch during rigging operations. The replaceable pull trigger ensures long-term serviceability without requiring full hook replacement when wear occurs. Critically, the S-1316AH is OSHA compliant for personnel lifting per 1926.1431(g)(1)(i)(A) when properly installed and locked — a certification that significantly narrows the field of hooks that can legally and safely be used in man-riding applications.
